HR Results Edge

TPO’s key service is HR Results Edge™.  Designed for companies seeking a comprehensive, outcome-focused HR operation at a reasonable cost, HR Results Edge™ provides a comprehensive mix of:

  • HR Leadership strategy,

  • Critical administrative and compliance support.

Each member of your TPO HR Results Edge team has a unique function and collaborates with other TPO team members to provide a comprehensive HR department for your organization and staff.  Assignments begin by building an Engagement Roadmap®, capturing your business plans and current practices and charting the way forward for your HR program.  Using the Engagement Roadmap® TPO’s Consulting Engagement Director, together with you and your executive team, designs a specific HR strategy to align with your business strategy and continues to evolve that strategy as your organization grows.  Your HR Consultant. uses the strategy to develop the right individual HR programs for your organization.  He or she then personally implements and manages these programs as your on-site, resident expert for day-to-day HR needs, technical HR issues, and support interpreting and implementing even the most delicate people issues.  An HR Coordinator maintains your organization’s employee information, compliance and benefit programs.  Using TPO Track®, our proprietary HR information management system, the HR Coordinator ensures timely benefits administration and effective communication between HR, payroll and accounting.  Finally, when Recruiting Services are needed, your HR Consultant works with you and TPO’s Staffing Expert to determine the right approach for each job opening and then executes the recruiting plan.  TPO HR Results Edge engagements are typically structured as monthly retainers with recruiting supplements, as needed.

Small Business Edge

TPO’s Small Business Edge™ is a right-sized approach for organizations ready to introduce more structured HR operations but not yet large enough to require a comprehensive HR department. Here an initial HR structure and consultant availability are the most important elements to ensure a strong starter platform of good HR practices.  As a Small Business Edge™ client, you will work with a dedicated TPO HR Consultant who visits your offices at least once a month to develop and direct the full range of HR programs to support your business objectives. Small Business Edge™ engagements are typically structured as monthly retainers.  TPO's exclusive full range of Recruiting Services is also available.

VP Leadership Edge

TPO’s VP Leadership Edge™ combines the scheduled support of a TPO Senior HR Consultant with your own in-house HR operating capabilities. Larger, more mature clients often have sufficient HR operational resource but lack the in-house capability and funding to take the function to its full strategic operability. The VP Leadership Edge™ provides cost-effective executive HR Leadership and HR unit supervision. As with other levels of service, your HR Consultant works with you and your executive team to develop a unique strategy for your HR operation. Your own in-house staff implements this strategy under the supervision of TPO's Senior HR Consultant, who also ensures that your HR strategy is having the desired bottom-line impact. VP Leadership Edge™ engagements are typically structured as monthly retainers.

Other Services

HR Set-Up and On-Call engagements ensure that young, start-up organizations have proper HR programs and procedures right from the beginning. TPO provides essential HR structural elements such as compliance set-up, policy development, benefits acquisition, records set-up, employee on-boarding and exit processes, and related forms. TPO is then available "on-call" and can be contacted as needed for on-going HR consulting support or project work. Engagements are typically structured with an initial charge followed by hourly billing as time is incurred.

Interim HR Management – When TPO staff is available, they can be temporarily placed at a client’s location to manage the HR function during an absence or transition in the client’s own HR leadership.  Generally these assignments run one to two months in duration and are billed at an agreed hourly rate.

Audits and Assessments – With the huge breadth of experience brought to TPO by our staff, coupled with TPO’s significant breadth of client experience, we have developed several auditing and assessment tools.  These tools can be used to diagnose specific issues, check on the “health” of an HR organization, or prepare for future events.  All audits are conducted as fixed-fee engagements.

  • Using our Human Resources Audit, TPO can complete a comprehensive, transactional audit of your entire HR operation.  Reports for this audit include a detailed summary of findings from all areas of your HR practices, as well as both operational and strategic recommendations that can be implemented independently or with the assistance of TPO. 
  • Our HR Retention Assessment provides you with recommendation on how to keep your best talent.  Analysis is based on an assessment protocol that includes our own proprietary review, interviews at your location, and review of other related materials and data.  The report benchmarks best practices in retention strategies and compares these to your own current practices. 
  • At the critical juncture when a merger or acquisition is under consideration, many businesses overlook the important activity of evaluating the HR operations of a merger or acquisition target as part of their due diligence process.  TPO’s M&A Due Diligence Audit offers a critical, timely and cost-effective means to audit the HR operations of a potential target, or to assure that your own HR operations will not be evaluated as a negative component by a potential acquirer.  In addition to assessing HR practices, costs and potential liabilities, the audit provides an initial roadmap for understanding and planning critical post-activity integration of people and people systems.

Consulting – The full resources of TPO are available to clients of all sizes in an “unbundled” format.  TPO can bring the breadth and depth of its entire team to meet an organization’s HR needs in the format of both discreet projects (usually priced on a fixed fee) and hourly consulting for specific circumstances.  Projects have included all aspects of HR work, from compensation studies, to succession plan development, to legal investigations and HR team assessments.
